Self Challenge Series – Humbling – But Very Instructional
I hardly know where to begin. I am going to tell you How To Avoid Internet Disaster. I am excited to be moving on in my skill development and internet marketing training.
I have created my blog, using the Magazine Basic theme to allow me to display my opt in box, a number of affiliate advertisements as well as specific featured posts.
It is kind of like my first home. Nothing to write home about – but it is all mine. I put it together from scratch learning along the way. Chris Farrell’s Membership Program gave me incredible insight into the mechanics and program processes.

Anyone who has been following these posts knows I have selected a few “experts” to follow, learn from and emulate. Chris Farrell and his team are at the top of the list!
Let me tell you why. See that “crash” in the graphic above? That is what I thought my ENTIRE blog looked like just yesterday at 10 PM ! Months, that’s right – months of work – poof!
It Was My Fault
I made some incredible rookie mistakes. I started working on my analytics. I was getting excited, maybe a little too confident, and was ready to start fixing my search engine optimization. Great idea – right? 
Well, welcome to wonderland ! I found all kinds of code and snipits of instruction. I barged right in – grabbed that code – stuck it in my blog – CRASH!!
Panic and Frustration
For the better part of 45 minutes – all I had was a blank page with a few widgets and images showing – floating around like so many little yellow rubber duckies in a tub – all in the wrong places. Worse – absolutely none of my 80+ articles could be found anywhere.
A little more fiddling and I couldn’t even get into the control panel. Well, I finally admitted it – I blew it and had absolutely nothing left to solve the problem.
What To Do – Ask For Help
Talk about embarrassed. As you should know the Chris Farrell Membership comes with “free hosting”. No – there is no mention of any mechanics or guides – just free hosting to make it a little easier to get started.
What you may not realize at first – it is like swimming in the shallow end with a life guard watching very closely.
The Chris Farrell team has access to the hosted accounts – they can do a lot from that vantage point – other programs either can not or simply won’t.
I humbly wrote my request to the technical team at Chris Farrell Membership. I knew there was absolutely no promise of technical help – especially with a wordpress blog. Chris teaches use of web sites, filezilla, kompozer and a host of fantastic FaceBook techniques. Some wordpress materials started in May 2011. But there is no big course on wordpress at the membership. A few basic guides in his “oh by the way” area. Nonetheless, I was desperate
Well, as far as I am concerned, this couldn’t have been a better experience. First, I learned a key lesson – be sure you know what you are doing before you just start “fiddling”. My after thought and one I have now implemented – I have created a mirror blog with my hosting account with Chris. Now, I test suspect widgets, and plugins. I test any unique code that is to be added to the page in my test first.
If it works then I can use it on my home blog. Second, for heavens sake – back up your material Christy ! Basic stuff – but let it get away from me and I will be sorry. One of my first “fixes” was to just load another blog and then upload the “saved” materials I had pulled off using the export tool on my blog. Well, sounds good but – I have to save regularly and right. Some of the pages loaded and some didn’t. I now know what I didn’t do in the export. So two things I learned about myself.
Third, I actually got some more self induced training. I discovered that with a little adrenalin I was able to go back to my cpanel and load another blog – fast. A couple of months ago, I am not sure I would have been able to even find the host account – let alone know what to do with Fantastico. BTW Fantastico is an exceptional program and available with Chris’ program as well – part of the hosting deal – no extra charge!
The Clincher !

Take a look at the time stamp of my request and Jeff Hope’s response. No your eyes are not lying to you. I yelled – help at 10:01PM —- Jeff Hope solved the problem and answered at 10:17PM ! What is that 16 minutes????
Come on – give me the name of just one other internet training program with this type of attitude. Jeff could have said – sorry bub – we do the hosting not the fixing. But instead – and this is not the first time – Chris’ team rose to the challenge and pulled me from the jaws of my own folly.
Within a few minutes of getting the word – I was able to reload the wordpress theme and dove right into the Magazine Page design and ripped that offending google code out. I obviously didn’t install it correctly and nearly destroyed months of work.
Here Is The Bottom Line
I am a big fan of Chris Farrell and his program. I am an affiliate. I have affiliate links all over my blog for Chris’ program. I do it for good reason – I continue to have exceptionally positive experiences with Chris’ training – daily. His materials are thorough. His videos are exceptional. His technique is current and always fresh. This most recent “save” is really a bonus – one I probably didn’t deserve – but for which I am extremely grateful.

Remember a couple of key things. First, using my affiliate link does not cost you anything. No increase in cost.
